Body acne is similar in many ways to facial acne. The causes are also very similar and genetic disposition is a huge factor as well. While sometimes more stubborn, it is also treated the same ways that facial acne is treated. Since the back is one of the more common problem areas, this article is going to explain how to get rid of pimples on your back.
Unfortunately back acne is often times worse than facial acne. This is thought to be related to the size of the pores that the skin on the back has. This results in pimples that are harder, deeper, and larger. The good news is that the skin on the back is also stronger. This allows you to use stronger medications that the face may be too sensitive for. Before we get into actual medications, we will discuss some preventative measures that you can take. The first thing that you want to do is make sure to wash your back every night with non-irritating soap. It is very important to not use any irritating washes as this can be counterproductive in itself. You will also want to make sure that your clothes are clean and properly dried. Damp clothing can open up a breeding ground to harmful bacteria that leads to clogged pores.
Another important factor is exercise and sweating. The sweat caused from exercising can cause additional breakouts if not dealt with quickly. We recommend washing your back immediately after your workout. If you can, apply your regimen as well for even further benefit. Regarding exercise, we recommend avoiding the use of anabolic steroids. Not only are they illegal, but they cause many different types of changing in your body and will affect your hormones in unpredictable ways. Many people that have never had pimples experience massive breakouts of severe acne. If you wish to do steroids, please consult a doctor and dermatologist first.
As noted above, treatment for back acne is very similar to that of facial acne. We recommend a higher percentage benzoyl peroxide though if that is the root that you are taking. Certain prescription benzoyl peroxides contain 5% as opposed to the regular 2.5%. They also contain oral antibiotics. We have had luck using these twice per day, all over the back, after showering. High percentage retinoid medications also appear to provide various benefits.
We hope that you have a better idea on how to get rid of pimples on your back. Please remember to try all of the methods we listed as some things may not work for everyone. It is also crucial to remember to avoid using any irritating products on your back. The best method is prevention and we do not want to make the problem any worse. We wish you the best of luck in your quest for skin clear of pimples!
